There’s something about a beautiful bathroom that makes the beginning and end of a day just that much better. Sure, there are plenty of spas and Airbnbs you could visit. But when you beautiful your bathroom, why do you need to leave? You don’t!

There are a lot of ways to go about decorating your bathroom (or any room in your house). Some ways are better than others and these are some of our favorite. They can help infuse your bathroom with personality so you’ll enjoy day after day.

It might seem like every design piece everywhere spouts the importance of decluttering. That’s because it’s important. Clutter is one of the quickest ways to take a beautiful space and make it unappealing.

The more stuff you have to see constantly, the more items your brain has to process, and the more off-putting it can be. By decluttering you give yourself a calm environment where you can relax.

Keep an Eye on Color

We definitely promote neutral colors when it comes to the more permeant (read more expensive to replace) bathroom fixtures. These big-ticket items generally include you shower, toilet, and sink.

That being said, we’re also big fans of adding a splash of color to your space. This might be a bright accent wall or a colorful piece of art. Adding a fun pop instantly draws the eye. Throughout the day as the light changes, how that pop appears will change as well. This helps further add intrigue.

Bonus Tip: Because this bright pop isn’t expensive, it can easily be updated when you become bored or your style changes.

Visually Increase the Size of Your Bathroom with Mirrors

Want a bigger bathroom? Don’t want to shell out a bunch of cash on a big remodel? You can visually increase the size of your bathroom by adding mirrors.

If you have a window, try placing the mirror directly across from it or diagonally from it. This will help reflect the natural light. If you don’t have a window, you can still amp up the light by placing two mirrors directly across from one another.

Bring the Green

One of the easiest ways to dress up any space is to add plants. Florals, like a bouquet, are nice. The only downside is, they die and have to be replaced constantly.

This is why we’re big fans of adding greenery to your space. Not only does it help you instantly liven up your bathroom, it offers numerous health benefits. These include improving air quality and boosting your mood.

Maximize Your Natural Light

Not all bathrooms have a window. However, if yours does, take advantage of it! Windows in the bathroom instantly scream luxury. The need for privacy makes some folks want to cover up the windows. Resist the urge. Instead, try a frosted glass or top-up bottom-down blinds, to give you privacy while letting in natural light.

Add a Tile Backsplash

Tiling the entire bathroom is not only visually weighty, it’s expensive. Instead, try adding a tile backsplash over the sink. This gives your bathroom some beautiful texture, without overdoing it on the update side of things.

Don’t Overlook Your Accessories

Don’t just accept the cars and containers in which your toiletries come. Consider transferring them into different (read beautiful) containers that add something to your countertop visually. It may take a few extra minutes to transfer lotion into a beautiful squirt bottle, but it’s worth every second.

Bonus Tip: When you’re thinking about accessories, don’t overlook candles. Candles can add layers of light and texture to your bathroom. This instantly dresses up a space that might need a little mood enhancement. To get the best bang for your candle improvement, select a scented candle that will also help to freshen the air.

Let Yourself Have Fun

Some folks have a tendency to be scared to try new things. They aren’t sure how it’s going to turn out, so they just do nothing. Give yourself permission to experiment. If it doesn’t look great, that’s not the end of the world. You can re-do it – especially when you’re making updates that aren’t overly expensive. By experimenting, you learn what you like and what you don’t. You may also discover something you thought you’d hate works really well.
