You’ve been running around barefoot most of the summer and your little toes have the wear to prove it. Want to get the spruced up for a big event or simply want to treat yourself? A DIY pedicure is a simple (and affordable) way to show your feet some love.
Just follow these easy steps.
Start with a Soak
Fill your bathtub with warm water and a small bit of good smelling soap. Dip your feet on in and let them soak for 2 – 5 minutes.
Why not a big basin of water like at a spa? You certainly can go that route if you want, but it’s more work. We like to keep things nice and simple.
While your feet are still wet, use a large foot file to smooth the rough areas of your foot.
Next, select your favorite relaxing foot scrub. Go for something with a scent you love! Scrub your foot and up your leg in gentle circular motions to exfoliate and promote blood flow.
Using a good pair of toenail clippers, clip each nail so they are straight across. Then, use a nail file to gently curve each nail.
Place toe separators on both your feet. If you don’t have a set like they use in the spa, Amazon sells them for cheap. You can also use rolled up toilet paper in a pinch. Brush each nail with a thin layer of base coat. Allow it to try for 1 – 2 minutes.
Add a thin layer of your desired color. Let it dry for 1 – 2 minutes. Add a second layer of your desired color, letting it dry for 1 – 2 minutes. Add a layer of clear top coat. Let your nails dry for 10 – 15 minutes.
Once your nails are fully dry (it may take a bit longer than 15 minutes), gently rub your feet with a moisturizing lotion.
