How dreamy does an outdoor shower sound? Lush greenery. Daylight. Fresh air.
But, what if you live in an urban area where an outdoor shower is out of the question? For most of us, creating the dreamy vacation vibe isn’t going to happen on our balcony. And, don’t get us started on the qualms of a windowless bathroom.
So what are you to do?
While there are no plants that thrive in a windowless environment, it’s still possible to give your indoor shower an outdoor feel, with the right approach.
Add Grow Lights
Grow lights are artificial lights that simulate sunlight. Indoor grow houses use them to cultivate entire crops. They come in a variety of sizes and price points. In some cases, you can even just get lightbulbs to replace your existing lightbulbs.
Keep in mind, you’ll need to leave the grow lights on for 6-8 hours a day on average. Depending on your plants’ needs, they might need even more light. And, simply adding the grow lights doesn’t mean you can flip a switch and forget your plants. They’ll need to be watered and feed from time to time.
Rotate Your Plants
This tactic is wildly popular in office buildings where daylight is scarce. By rotating your plants from a room with a window to your bathroom and back, you can give them some of the Vitamin D they need, while still getting to enjoy growing goodness in your bathroom.
Let’s be honest, all those grow lights and plant rotation moments might just be a bit too much for you. That’s okay. You don’t have to feel like you’re devoting your life to your bathroom babies.
There is an impressive selection of very realistic-looking artificial plants available. These can offer a simple solution to creating the outdoor vibe you want, without the hassle. To make the ruse more believable, consider adding some naturally-scented incents.
